Dr. Oz, a well known name across the globe is now featuring in Oprah Winfrey’s Best Life Series, ensuring a healthy beginning of the year 2009. Just to elaborate a bit about this famous medical practitioner, he is associated with the Columbia University and also directs several phenomenal research programs pertaining to the cardiovascular field in the country.

Oprah in a recent interview confessed that she has now touched 200 pounds owing to the 40 pounds gain in past two years. She attributes the weight gain to thyroid, food addiction & depression. On her best life series Dr Oz advises her towards leading a healthy life.

He mentioned the five foods that one must avoid in order to have a balanced diet. These are as follows:

1. Sugar
2. Saturated Fat
3. High Fructose Corn Syrup
4. Trans-fats / Hydrogenated Fats
5. ‘Enriched’ Anything

So, the next time you are purchasing food items from the near by grocery store, make sure to read the ingredients and avoid that comprise of any of the things listed above.As we explore further through Dr. Oz’s theory of wellness, here are a few quick & easy tips for you:

1. Avoid the food items comprising of white flour.
2. Avoid refined & processed foods.
3. Avoid the foods comprising of toxic fats. This means, do not eat fried items or those cooked in the hydrogenated oils.
4. Eat a lot of berries, vegetables & soybeans regularly.
5. With the medium weight dumbbells, do some reps twice a day – one when you wake up, next just before you sleep.
6. While watching TV, pedal the stationary bike as much as possible.
