Mosby needs to either yank this book from their catalog or publish a 2nd edition. It’s from 2002 and the information is so outdated as to be useless. I took a nursing informatics course and for some inexplicable reason, this textbook was required. I flipped through it once and never cracked it again. As just one example, there is almost no discussion of CPOE (Computerized Physician Order Entry). I mean, really! In 2002, computers were much slower, there were fewer peripherals and add-ons, PDAs had hardly come into common use in the healthcare setting, etc., etc. And computer security issues were less complicated at that time. Come on, Mosby, this book should embarrass you!
