Make no mistake this is not a light hula hoop. It’s thick padded foam and 3 lbs. are real work to spin and yes this will really work your abs and obliques. If you want a kids hula hoop try elsewhere.
It does feel a bit flimsy at first and you do have to make certain that the pieces are really locked in but it does work.
My wife has some trouble getting used to taking it apart, since the places where it locks in and disconnects aren’t marked.
I had no problem locking it in or unlocking it, my wife will probably need to do it a few times, to get it right.
She is very happy we didn’t buy the 4 lb. model as this weight is perfect.
She does hula hoop and says this one really is a lot more of a workout.
She does 10 minutes a day of hula hoop as part of her cardio routine.
Very happy with the purchase, I would reccomend this as a good buy.
I gave it 4 stars because it is difficult to find where to disconnect. You really have to feel around for
the lock and that makes it take time.
Other than that it’s great according to my wife, she feels 10 minutes with this will really improve
her cardio.

Love the sports hula. I had no problem with it coming apart and went to hula hooping right away. I followed the instructions and only used it for a few minutes a day the first week. I did get a little sore around my hips but no bruises. I plan to hula a lot.

Bought this hoop based on the other reviews for my niece to use as a fun addition to her workout. Examine the pieces and you will see the locking mechanism about an inch inside the tube. Locking the pieces together is a real help to keeping the thing from hitting the floor in pieces. My niece was able to get the hoop up and maintain a nice speed after the third or fourth try. She did experience bruising and had to stop for almost two weeks for the bruising to heal. However, when she resumed she did use the guidelines provided and has had nothing but positive results from her use of the hoop.

I was skeptical of this product but decided to give it a try because it wasn’t very expensive. I was able to put it together with no problems and didn’t have any problems with it falling apart when I was using it, as others did. When you’re putting it together, just make sure the buttons are securely fastened and you shouldn’t have a problem with it falling apart. I had to give each section a small tug to make sure everything was in place. It took a while to get used to the weight of the hoop and it really hurt at first, but I didn’t get any bruises. I followed the recommended exercise plan that’s listed on the box: 1-2 minutes of hula hooping the first week, 2-3 minutes, the second week, etc. Let your body get used to the weight of the hula hoop. It’ll hurt the first couple of times you try it, but once you get used to it, you’ll love it!
